This album is a compilation of B-Sides to previous Green Day singles. The only song that wasn't previously released was "Ha Ha You're Dead" written by Mike Dirnt. The album was set to include the song "D.U.I" but was removed. The song and more details about it can be found here.
This compilation was released as a "Greatest Hits". It features many of Green Day's singles and their most popular songs. The band recorded two new songs for the album, 'Maria', and "Poprocks & Coke." An accompanying DVD, "International Supervideos!", was released on the same day. It included all of the band's previous music videos. The album has sold over 3 million copies worldwide since its release.
Green Day's second studio album (often considered the first) is actually a compilation of their first LP, 39/Smooth, and two previous EP's, Slappy and 1000 Hours, which were recorded at the Art of Ears Studio in San Francisco, CA, USA between 1988 - 1990. The album was originally released on Lookout! Records in 1991, then re-mastered and re-released on Reprise Records and Epitaph Europe in 2007. As of 2010, it has sold over 600,000 copies.
