"Bang Bang" nominated for Rock Song of the Year at iHeart Radio Music Awards

iHeart Radio today has announced the nominees for their upcoming iHeart Radio Music Awards event and Green Day's track "Bang Bang" has been nominated for Rock Song of the Year.

The lead single from Revolution Radio had massive radio airplay during its time as a single, making it to #1 on Alternative and Rock charts. The song is up against some stiff competition from Red Hot Chili Peppers and Disturbed, to name a few. The full list of nominated songs:

  • "Bang Bang" - Green Day
  • "Dark Necessities" - Red Hot Chili Peppers
  • "Take Me Down" – The Pretty Reckless
  • "The Devil's Bleeding Crown" – Volbeat
  • "The Sound Of Silence" - Disturbed

The 2017 iHeartRadio Music Awards air March 5 on TBS, TNT and truTV in the US at 8:00pm EST. Check out the full list of nominees here.

It is unlikely that the band will be a part of the awards show since they have a show scheduled that night in Houston, TX. As is with many touring artists, iHeart could air a performance of a song from the band's show in Houston.
