"Pushing our way to the very front to see Green Day, and then passing out right before they took the stage. Passing out to the point where my friends had to carry me out of the crowd. We lost our spot and I had to watch Green Day (my favorite band) from the food counter with strangers pouring ice on me. I was pissed."
"I had been waiting and anticipating seeing Green Day for the first time for five years. I had been screwed out of seeing them every year so when I found out they were going to Warped, I went out and spent almost $200 on tickets, buying two other tickets for my friend and boyfriend to be nice. We got to the New World Music Theatre in Tinley Park and I was shaking with excitement. Green Day was to come on at 6:20 on the third stage. I skipped MxPx and Millencolin so I could get a prime spot. Me, my friend Sabrina and my boyfriend shoved and screamed our way through the wild Papa Roach crowd, holding onto each other. We finally got a great spot. Dead center, almost at the front. I am only 5', so I could barely see the stage. But if I moved just right, I could see Billie and Mike's microphones. We waited there for over an hour, pouring sweat and holding our spots. Things seemed okay, despite the fact that we were surrounded by huge guys. Finally, Green Day came running onstage. Billie was wearing his usual red shirt and black tie, Tre had on some funky glasses from what I was told and Mike had a white shirt on. They burst into Welcome To Paradise and I immediately started pogoing, thinking the rest of the crowd would do the same. About five seconds into the song, the entire crowd behind us surged forward, sending me off my feet and onto my friend in front of me. From then on, we were shoved forward, backward, left and right. At some points, I thought I was going to die. I was being suffocated by constant crowdsurfers and moshers. I fell onto my knees and no one picked me up. My leg was almost broken by someone stepping on it, but I grabbed onto my friend and pulled myself up. I saw two glimpses of Mike, one glimpse of Billie Joe while I was falling down, and I didn't see Tre'. At the end of Welcome To Paradise, we realized that if we stayed in there, we'd be killed. We all grabbed onto each other and began shoving our way out of the sardine-packed crowd, elbowing and falling the entire way. We got out right at the end of Hitchin' A Ride, the second song. I fell down onto a bench and started bawling. I just listened to Green Day play behind me, I couldn't even see them, and cried. I couldn't believe how horrible it turned out. What was supposed to be my best memory yet turned out to be my worst. My ass had been grabbed by people I couldn't even see! I was so busy trying to hold myself up and pushing 300-pound guys off me in every direction, I couldn't even sing along! At one point, Billie yelled, 'If someone falls, you pick them up!' Ha! That never happened."
