The Hartford Courant has announced that Billie Joe will be recognized and honored at the Connecticut Critics Circle Awards ceremony later this month.

Billie Joe will be recognized for his "special contribution to theater in the state" as it pertains to "These Paper Bullets," a show which Billie Joe wrote eight original, Beatles-esque songs for.

"These Paper Bullets" had its run at the Yale Repertory Theatre in New Haven, Connecticut back in March and April of this year. Billie Joe wrote eight songs for the show including "Follow You Around," "Baby Blue," and "Last Time" which have all been released in the form of YouTube videos. The rest of the songs have not been released.

"These Paper Bullets" is up for the Outstanding Play award while both the male and female lead actors of the play are up for their respected Outstanding Lead Actor In a Play awards. The show has also been nominated for Outstanding Set Design, Outstanding Costume Design, Outstanding Lighting Design, and Outstanding Sound Design.

The Connecticut Critics Circle Awards take place next week on June 23rd in Westport, Connecticut at the Westport Country Playhouse. The awards ceremony allows theater lovers and leaders to gather together to socialize, reconnect and celebrate work of the past season. More information about the awards show can be found here.
