Billie Joe Armstrong: "I don't know if it's good or bad, because we were playing this place called Ashkenaz. It's on San Pablo Avenue ... in Berkeley. It was us, we're, like, these ... punk rock pin-ups or something, and there was this jazz fusion band Pluto, and there was a band called Spirit Of '29. And my old classical guitar teacher was, like, sitting in there, you know. It's funny. And then there was this Church of ... which is like, all these people worshipping this quadriplegic guy. So the idea was, everybody to be playing at the same time, where there's also a decibel meter. So, then everybody was playing at the same time, and every time Tre would like hit his kick drum, all electricity would go off. It was the strangest thing. And the church of ... was in full effect. People were actually having sex with him. Like, in front of us. There were all these belly dancers, and body painting. It was the strangest experience."
