SassafrassPudding: "And Marsugi’s - I saw Green Day play there, of all things. I was there to support my friends who were playing later that night. Green Day said they’d just gotten back from their first tour going up to Seattle and maybe Portland or something. I thought they sucked, LOL. Keep in mind this is 1989 or 1990. ... Green Day opened, then it was Love Gone Mad, which was what I would call a 'jangly guitar band', like REM, then my friend’s band was headlining. They were called Gods With Guns, and they were funk rock, like Primus, or Psychofunkapuss, or Limbomaniacs, except they were really more like rap-rock. The reason I remember this show so well is because I made the flyers for it and still have a copy somewhere. Marsugi’s was such a scary trash hole and it wouldn't be unusual to find someone had overdosed on something in the bathroom when you went to take a leak."
