Green Day in Los Angeles, CA

Show Details

Location: Whisky A Go Go in Los Angeles, USA - CANCELLED
Date: March 24, 1993
Notes:
  • Cancelled due to Mike Dirnt's injury
  • Eric Haase: "Hey, anyone know what is going on in Los Angeles at the Whisky on the 24th, since Green Day cancelled. Is Down By Law still gonna play?"
  • Hunter Oswald: "They played a tiny place in Tampa sometime around '90 and I wasn't able to go. (I don't remember why.) When I moved to Los Angeles, I was so fucking stoked that we were playing together at the Whiskey. Then the injury made them cancel. And I was so fucking bummed. I've still never seen them. I still really want to. Now I've got a daughter who does, too."
  • LA Weekly: "Power-pop, punk-pop, punk-rock ... the names have stayed the same even if the players haven't, and San Fran's Green Day would fit nicely into any of those categories. ... without the lite, melodic sans wimp, rapid not ... Green Day are the living embodiment of Rhinos D.I.Y. series, still a bunch of babies, and way too young to be nostalgic If you ever dug the Undertones, the Buzzcocks, the Outlets or any of the late-70s manic poppers. Green Day are for you, and you'd best be steppin' out for this, as label bidding wars have already commenced Down by Law feature the sublimely talented throat of Dave Smalley (ex-AII), and Bean are the tougher side of what used to be alternative hard pop themselves. Addicted to that rush that only fast beats and distorted power chords provide? This triple-bill will transport you to the land of the three-minute song, definitely an endangered species."
