Eric Garay: "Green Day played a backyard party on UNM's frat row. 1993 I think?"
The Horned God: "...Same place where Green Day almost played until Jase of Word Salad almost started a riot!..."
Kim Schwenk: "I have a great Green Day story too! Well, back in 1993, before Dookie, GD played in the backyard of a famous punk house, and this is when Billie Joe had dreadlocks! So, apparently there was some skinhead tension and a fight broke out when the band was playing! Pretty soon, beer bottles were flying, so I decided to duck behind a PA monitor and low and behold, Billie Joe was hiding there too! He said, "We gotta get the fuck out of here!" and then ran off. Then my friend comes rolling out of a bush, apparently having been punched or something. I still have the flyer from that show! They didn't get to my favourite song (even to this day) Don't Leave Me!"
