Song Meaning

In part I of this rock-song opera of sorts ("calling all demons..."), the narrator commiserates with a group of rag-tag misfits, dedicated to "the rejects and waste of times." They have nothing to lose, and "don't say no." They've accepted their positions as society's bottom-feeders, and feel they have nothing to lose.

In part II ("we're too old..."), they realize that maybe they aren't invincible; after all, they are just a group of nobodies. They're ashamed of whatever they've done, and are waiting for a savior ("Miss Judgement Day"), who will later reveal herself as "Julianna Homicide."

In part III ("all fucked up..."), the narrator stops thinking of himself as part of a group, and focuses on his role alone. He grows angry, and decides he doesn't need anyone else ("Fuck the world / This is my revolution"). But, in the midst of his fit of rage, he encounters Julianna Homicide, who apparently shares his angst. Lines like "Chop me a line of my best friend's ashes" and "I've got the urge to binge and surge" reiterate the extreme sense of recklessness felt by the narrator while he was with the band of rejects, which is now showing up again. Julianna Homicide brings out the worst in him, and seems to epitomize everything that the narrator feels at the moment.

Then, a slower, more deliberate version of part I means that things have slowed down, and the narrator has possibly fallen back into his group of outcasts. His run with Julianna Homicide is over, whether that be for the better or not.

Lastly, part IV ("we're carried away...") could mean that the aforementioned group abandons their radical tendencies and admits that they were in over their heads. Or, "carried away" could represent the journey to support a new cause elsewhere.

Lyrics

Calling all demons
This is the season
Next stop is therapy

We’re the retarded
And the broken-hearted
The season of misery

Here’s to the wasted
I can almost taste it
The rejects and waste of times

Gonna take it further
Get away with murder
And no one here is getting out alive

Here’s to all God’s losers
Ra da da da de
The bottom-feeder’s frenzy

Here’s to all blood suckers
Sing along with me
‘Cause we don’t say no
Scream, 1-2-3

We’re too old to be misbehaved
We sold our souls, and so ashamed of ourselves
So we wait for Miss Judgement Day
Write me a letter, and send it to my grave

All fucked up beyond intervention
Fuck the world, this is my revolution
Long lost souls and livin’ in cages
I’m on a bender, it’s one for the ages

I’ve got the urge to binge and surge
The tables turn
To crash and burn

Juliana Homicide
Make my demons come alive
Juliana Homicide
Won’t you be my blushing bride?

Chop me a line of my best friend’s ashes
Dust to dust when the red light flashes
What the fuck does “OK” stand for?
When the afterlife is nothing worth dying for

I’ve got the urge to binge and surge
The tables turn
To crash and burn

Juliana Homicide
Make my demons come to life
Juliana Homicide
Won’t you be my blushing bride?

California’s burning to the ground
And Julianna walks on holy ground
Where there’s smoke, there’s fire
Burning out the lights

‘Cause California’s burning down tonight
Tonight

Calling all demons
This is the season
Next stop is therapy

We’re the retarded
And the broken-hearted
The season of misery

Here’s to the wasted
I can almost taste it
The rejects and waste of times

Gonna take it further
Get away with murder
And no one here is getting out alive

Here’s to all God’s losers
Ra da da da de
The bottom-feeder’s frenzy

Here’s to all blood suckers
Sing along with me
‘Cause we don’t say no
Scream, 1-2-3

We're carried away, carried away
Carried away
